Taking Care of a Laptop Computer

You should exercise many precautions when you are taking care of a laptop computer. The technology inside of a laptop is much more advanced than what is included in a desktop and therefore you need to take extra special care with your laptop computers.

The first thing that you should worry about is cleaning the screen. Because of the thinness of the screen on a laptop, they will usually gather a large amount of dust very quickly. It is very tempting just to use your hand to wipe off the dust. But, the oil from your fingers will rub off on to the screen and make annoying smudges. Try to use a lint-free rag whenever possible. Never spray your screen with any kind of cleaner except computer screen cleaner spray.

Another thing that you should think about when you are taking care of a laptop computer is that dust on the keyboard. When you close a laptop computer, a lot of the dust from the screen will fall onto the keyboard. It is your responsibility to keep this area clean. For the most part, dust will not really affect the way that your keyboard works. However, over time a dust buildup can cause keys to stop working. An easy way to clear the dust is to simply dry your mouth of all saliva and give it a quick blow of cool air. However, if you want to get it really clean then you should pick up an aerosol dust-spraying can and spray air in between all of the keys.

You should also exercise care when you are changing the battery in your laptop. Be careful not to get any moisture on any of the connections or they could be ruined for good. Also, exercise caution as to where you leave and store your laptop. Leave it out of extreme temperatures and always keep it in a place that is relatively dry.

While most laptops come with a 128 MB memory, it’s wise to invest in more memory such as a system memory (RAM) of 256 MB or even better, 512 MB, for the easier running of programs under Windows ME, Windows XP, and others. After all, the more memory the merrier!

Another main feature of a laptop is its port. A port is a slot through which external material such as microphones and cameras are connected. Laptops come with a serial port, infrared, parallel, and a Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports. Most external equipment correspond with different ports, which is why there are several types of ports in a laptop. However, it is best to opt for at least two USBs, as this is fast becoming the most popular of ports. › Continue reading…

Such laptops are called as refurbished laptops.

Factory refurbished laptops:

The laptops in the factory undergo rechecking for any manufacturing defect by passing through various stages of examination. Then, when no fault is found, the hard disk of the laptop is reformatted and again the operating system is loaded. It is again made to work for less than 4-5 hours time to check for any defect and the parts are replaced if they are found to be defective.
